Aloe (Aloe vera) is perhaps America’s most popular folk remedy. A succulent perennial of the lily family, it is native to Africa and cultivated throughout Mexico and southern Texas. Within aloe leaf is a thick gel used in cosmetics and medications, while the outer tissue produces a bitter juice once widely used as a laxative.
For over 2,000 years, aloe gel as been used topically for minor burns, cuts, scrapes and swelling. The mixture of aloe gel, juice and water has been traditionally used as a digestive aid. Modern clinical studies have confirmed many of aloe’s health promoting properties.
Dosage:
Take at bedtime as needed with a full glass of water.
